Welcome to Mt. Hannah School
The Donalva Community Center is an employment focused student community center under construction in the district of Donalva located in Hanover, Jamaica. This area is on the western side of the islands nestled between Birch Hill and the Dolphin Head Mountain 8 miles south of the capital Lucea. The property was donated by the Mt. Hannah Methodist Church and situation on the main road.
The Center will host a Library, Computer Learning Area, Auditorium and Recreation Area on the upper level. The lower level will have various skills training including the Culinary Arts.
The Center will take a holistic approach to education and stress first on development as well as career management skills. Another goal of the community center is to develop physical and mental well-being through sports such as: cricket, basketball, netball, table tennis and soccer and volleyball.
It will also have a play area for small children with slides and swings.
All of the labor for the construction will be on a volunteer basis and will be provided by the Donalva Community and Surrounding Communities. The upkeep and maintenance will be supervised a board made up of members of the community and also from outside of the community. It is projected that the fees from the Auditorium Rental, Library, Local Culinary Products will provide the income to maintain the center.
